Because of the variety of needs of our customers around the world, MacKichan Software offers a variety of licensing options. For this purpose, our products use FlexLM, a product of Macrovision.
Fixed Licenses: A fixed license is tied to a computer and can be used in one of two ways: either on one computer by many people; or, by one person on his personal computers. These two cases are mutually exclusive.
Floating Licenses: A floating license is a network license that can be used by anybody connected to a single server. The number of people who can use the program at any one time is determined by the number of licenses you purchase.
Unlimited Campus-wide Site Licenses: Academic institutions can buy unlimited site licenses, which are essentially an unlimited number of floating licenses. The license is managed by software running on one or more servers, and the license agreement says that the servers can be accessed only by those connected to the institution. We also offer a home-use option.
Time-limited Licenses: All licenses are available at a reduced price for the period of a semester or a year. This allows, for example, the economical purchase of licenses for a computer lab for a course based on one of our programs.
